Would anyone be able to help me with an error that I get when loading image files into ENVI? The versions that I have tried are 4.3, 4.7 and 4.8. The error that I get is: ENVI error (18,359,835 bytes) Problem: the specified dimensions are incorrect They total 18,360,000 bytes The group that I sourced the images from supplied me with ENVI formatted images along with the headers. They have no issues in loading them (using v4.4) and have supplied me with a video showing the process. I have tried to change the headers, but receive another error: ENVI error envi_histogram: an error has occurred during processing Error: "Array has too many elements". The result may be invalid Would anyone please be able to provide a solution for my issue? If you require further information, please post Thank you in advance for your help Simon Disclaimer: I am new to this software and the group that I sourced the images from are not able to find the cause for the error. The images are from a non-operational experimental satellite.

The error message you are getting indicates that when ENVI calculates the size of the file, based on the number of samples and lines etc. specified in the header, the actual size of the file is smaller than it would need to be to contain the data that the header says it does. It's hard to say why that might be. Maybe the transfer of the image was not complete? Or maybe you have a different image than you think you have (and than goes with the header file)? You might want to contact Exelis VIS tech support (support@exelisvis.com or (303) 413-3920) and have them take a look at the image and header. Maybe they can tell why the two don't match up for you. - Peg

Thanks Peg, I will do that. I am curious as to why the images can be viewed by the supplier, but that I cannot. Simon

I had the same issue, but fixed it later. The problem happened if the image was in TIF format. The way I fixed it was to convert the image to ENVI standard format. Hope it helps.
