I just upgraded to Fedora 16 running X-server 1.11.2, and Gnome 3.2. I started IDL, typed demo and the screen flashed a couple of times (between my current desktop and an older snapshot) before the widget came up. But that was it. although I clicked in the various demo options nothing came back. Then I started one of our widget programs that display movies (of solar images) and every time the frame changed, the whole desktop would flash back to a previous state and return to the current frame. We traced the issue to a mapping call (etc, widget_control, map=0) to a background window that controls the movie (speed, etc) when it called in front (but otherwise it remains in the background). if this widget is not realized then no flashing occurs. But I think that this is a larger problem given the failure of the IDL demo widgets (btw, the demo_tour seems to work ok). Any ideas? thank you, angelos Details of my configuration: xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.11.2-3.fc16 (64bit) Server: X11.0, Fedora Project, Release 11102000 Linux 3.1.2-1.fc16.x86_64 #1 SMP x86_64 GNU/Linux
