how to process mod04- to extract aerosol optical thickness

    hello. im SYAFIQA AND I'M new here. wanna ask some question. actually im doing a research. which is pm10 concentration using modis image. the problem that im having is with the algorithms. i have found some of the algorithms to extract pm10.. but the algorithms need the value of AOT. which is oerosol optical thickness or aerosol optical depth. i have ask mr devin. how to extract aod in image. he told me to download the mod04. i already download it. but while georeferencing, there's a lot processing option that i need to select. i dontknow which one is suitable in extracting the value of aod in image,.... but i just pick mass concentration, and optical depth land and ocean. can someone know in this thing help me how to process the mod04 in extracting the value of AOT/AOD?..

    Try using the MODIS toolkit. You can download this tool from our website under User Community->Code library. Search for 'modis' which should allow you to download the toolkit. Follow the installation instructions. A new tool will show up under File ->Open External Format ->EOS->Modis Toolkit. Launch the tool and select your file as input. You will be presented with a list of products to extract. Select the products you need and output the files. I believe this tool applies the appropriate scale factors to the data to get to the floating point values of the AOT.

    well, i already download it . the MCTK. and.. i also have try georeferencing using the MCTK. here, i dont know what product to choose or select.. but i have read some paper and they choose the Optical Depth Land and Oceac and Mass Concentration..IS that we just have to select the two of the options, the result of the AOT can be display?..just like that? coz i did that.. pick the only two options, and the value is from the 0-1.2 something.. is that indicates the value of AOD? and... another question. do we have to do the masking cloud? coz reading under the cloud is high compared to others place. but, the ground data under the cloud's points, the ground data only a small amount.. tq
