    Dear Envi Users, I have found 2 meta files in the Landsat images, LT51420402011292KHC00_MTL.txt and LT51420402011292KHC00_MTLold.txt. I opened these files and the content are different, not totally but some lines are more or some parameters are more. When i try to open File >> Open External File >> Landsat >> Geotiff with metadata. I can't open the file which is LT51420402011292KHC00_MTL.txt, i get a warning like Geotiff metadata File : E:\Annapurna\LT51420402011292KHC00_MTL.txt Problem: An error was encountered reading this file. Error: Array dimensions must be greater than 0 so i have to select this file (LT51420402011292KHC00_MTLold.txt) instead. Could anybody tell me what could be the reason? I am using ENVI 4.8. Hari Adhikari

    If you compared the files line by line can you find something that is different?

    Landsat metadata files changed format last year. ENVI 4.8 is only capable of reading the _MTLold.txt file. ENVI 5.0.2 is capable of reading the new _MTL.txt files. You can find more information about the changes here: http://landsat.usgs.gov/L...Metadata_Changes.php
