I have .sid I want to mosaic in ENVI, it is currently processed and in a FGDB, in unmanaged catalog or in a datatile. When I try to open it from ENVI using OPEN AS \ Other Format \ .SID and navigate to the FGDB, all I can see is the FGDB are the DB extensions, no image file. Connecting using REMOTE DATABASE says file UNSUPPORTED I can open the .sid file if it is in a normal windows explored folder, outside of a FGDD, Catalog or processed data tile. Bottom line HOW CAN I BRING IN .SID from a FGDB or CATALOG without having to convert it to a .DAT. Thanks for any guidance.

I believe when you store a file in a geodatabase it is no longer the '.sid' format. You would need to open the file using File->Remote Connection Manager and connect to your GDB. Here you can select the file to open and you should be able to import it to the mosaic tool.

You say your image is unmanaged catalog in the FGDB. This means that the .sid file does not really exist in the FGDB. The Catalog or Mosaic only points to the image on the disk if it is Unmanaged. Hence it is an usupported format. So in reality you will need to navigate to the location of the image on the disk and then load it to ENVI from there. Regards Gordon Sumerling Esri Australia
