Hello, I have been trying to run unsupervised classifications with the tool in ENVI 5.0 (I hope to get 5.1 soon). I ask that the tool return 20-25 classes, but no matter what my other parameters are, the output is always just ONE class. One big horrible red screen. HELP! This has happened more often than not and when I finally get it to work, I have no idea why it worked. Why would the tool return only one class? What are some reasons? I have tried to read up about ISODATA but it is too complex for me to understand immediately and I have not been able to solve my problem for weeks now. Thanks!

ISODATA is a statistical approach so it must be something in your data or parameters. What kind of input data are you using? How many bands? What parameters did you set in ISODATA (standard deviations)? Are you using the Classification Workflow or the Classic ISODATA tool? If you set the output number of classes to less than 10 do you get a result? Does it happen with other datasets such as the sample datasets in the ENVI distribution? You might consider contacting Technical Support directly for assistance since it sounds like you have been struggling with this for a while.
