    i want to overlay image on google earth so that the background values will not be displayed. how can i make the background transparent using envi4.7?

    Perhaps you could try to use the SPEAR Google Earth Bridge. I think it should allow to make transparent black pixels. See the link below for more details: http://www.exelisvis.com/docs/GoogleE...

    Hi, You can save your image to ENVI format, then use the Edit ENVI Header tool to specify the data/pixel value of the background pixels that you want ENVI to ignore. This will make them transparent. From the File menu, select Edit ENVI Header. In the Header Info dialog, click Edit Attributes, then Data Ignore Value. Or, you can open the associated header file (.hdr) for the ENVI-format image and add a new line: data ignore value = xx. Then use the SPEAR Google Earth Bridge tool to overlay the image in Google Earth.

    my image is in hdr format. and having only black and white pixel. but when i am applying data ignore value=0 then whole image is changing to black. and after tools>spear>google earth>export image, google earth is showing black image. i want to make the black pixel of image transparent so that only white pixels are visible and in place of black pixel original google earth image should appear. Please help

    hello, thank you everyone for replying. my problem is solved. Solution: first classify your image using decision tree. then as answered above go to edit header value and data value ignore
