hello! can anyone help me. Please! i really purposely registered coz you might help me with my problem. The aim in our project is to get chlorophyll a content (mg/L) out of the Landsat ETM+ image using band algorithms in ENVI. I have already made the image atmospherically corrected which now, have reflectance pixel values. i tried then some known band algorithms afterwards as stated in some researches. however, i am kinda confused if the results were already the chlorophyll content. Is there "in-between" process before getting the real chlorophyll a values? how to convert the reflectances to chlorophyll content? Am i in the right direction? Your replies to this inquiry will really be much appreciated. thanks in advance!

I am afraid ENVI does not have a tool that directly converts reflectance to Chlorophyll content. Perhaps you are referring to one of the Vegetation Indices that can relate to plant health which is related to chlorophyll. Often studies such as this look at specific band ratios and correlate the ratio to the amount of field measured Chlorophyll. If you have an atmospherically corrected image, then it should be ready for you to apply whatever algorithm you wish using Band Math or IDL.

thanks for the reply marim! yes i have already applied some algorithm using band math tool but what i am confused with is that the resulting pixel values, are they already the chlorophyll content after applying certain algorithm? what after the application of the algorithm? do you have some links on detailed procedure in determining chlorophylls in waters using the ENVI. I'm afraid i am not yet introduced to IDL so i prefer using ENVI now. Thanks really for the reply. hope you still consider more. Ming
