Hi all! I am using the IDL 8.2 workbench and included /Applications/ in the IDL Path (in the Preference Section in the IDL Workbench). Since then the IDL Workbench launches, but the buttons (run, stop, break etc.) don't show and the Preference Tab does not open, it's basically not usable. Re-downloading the workbench does not work since IDL 8.2 is not offered anymore and the license my Insitute has purchased has not been updated to IDL 8.4 yet. Is there a way of deleting/editing a preference file that would make the workbench 'forget' the path settings that I set in my previous session?

Does the problem go away if you delete the "idl.pref" file located under the .idl directory tree in your home directory at: /Users/[username]/.idl/idl/pref-10-idl_8_2-unix/idl.pref For example, from a terminal window issue the command: rm ~/.idl/idl/pref-10-idl_8_2-unix/idl.pref Note: I would recommend that you first reboot your machine before deleting the idl.pref file to ensure that you don't have any old IDL sessions hanging in the background.
