I get two ENVI format images by using Modis conversion toolkit and I'd like to mosaic the two images. I want to keep the original data in the non-overlapping area and obtain mean data in the overlapping area. I have done many tests, but all failed. anybody encounter this? who can help me? I set the parameters as follows: case 1: I use "Seamless Mosaic" in ENVI5.1. I set color matching action as: img1(reference)+img2(none); feathering distance(0). In this case, the data in the area where img1 locates does not change, the remaining area including the overlapping area and img2 change. case 2: I use ENVI classic. in the Entry dialog, I set img1 as No and img2 as No for color balancing, which get nodata image in the overlapping area. What can I do now?

You cannot get a mean from Mosaicking two datasets in ENVI. The returned data will be the dataset that was on top. Getting a mean will require using Band Math or IDL programming. Something like the following might work: - create a layer stack of the two images but exclude non-overlapping regions. Calculate the mean from this and create a mask of the image area - create a layer stack of the two images but include non-overlapping regions. Apply the mask of the first image area and set the values to 0 or other unique value - mosaic the two layer stacks with the mean image on top and the background area set to ignore
