After installing service pack, I get a runtime error launching ENVI: RESTORE:Error opening file. Unit 100, File, C:\Program Files (x86)\Exelis\IDL84\lib\hook\envi_rt.sav How can I resolve this?

This is an installation error that can be resolved by uninstalling the product (SP1) and then re-installing. It is also a good idea to remove the preference file for ENVI: C:\Users\\.idl\envi\preferences5_2

Excuse me, I obtained the same error but trying to open a .sav file with IDL VM. I also tried to uninstall and re-install many time, but every time the same error appears. Could you help me, please? Thanks

I think this is a different issue. It may be the .sav file you are trying to run that has the problem. Do you know who created the .sav? Perhaps it can only run in a specific version of IDL.

The .sav file works perfectly on my Professor's IDL VM version 7.1.1, which is the same I am trying to open the file with. I specifically asked to have that version for this reason.

What is the name of your .sav file you are trying to restore? Does it have a .sav extension?

Yes, it is a .sav file, and the name has .sav at the end

This error generally occurs when the resource form you are installing may have some error or the software is not compatible with your system.
