Hi, I understand that for creating a Landsat time series for vegetation analysis using Lansat 8 and 5, the radiometric of L8 should be scale to the L5, that is, the L8 radiometric resolution should be scaled from 16 to 8 bits. Is that correct? how could I perform that in ENVI? Thank you in advance!

I have not heard of this requirement. It seems to be that a radiometric calibration to radiance or TOA reflectance would get both Landsat-5 and 8 into the same units for comparison. An atmospheric correction would also be desirable so that you are comparing ground reflectance values.

There is no requirement for radiometric calibration or atmospheric calibration. As was mentioned though it would be useful. Another thought too is that all the rasters in the series being projected to the same coordinate system with the same pixel size would be useful. - Ryan
