Hello All! I am wondering how to open Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) data in ENVI where all bands are displayed! Although in the .hdr file, it shows that my image includes 27 bands, from "open image file" only 3 bands are listed! On the list of "Open External File" I can not find the AVIRIS! Please help!

Hi, Click the Data Manager icon in the toolbar (or select File > Data Manager from the menu bar). The Data Manager lists all of the AVIRIS bands. The Layer Manager is where you only see the three bands that are used for the red/green/blue (RGB) display. If you have ENVI 5.2, you can also right-click on the filename in the Layer Manager and select Animate Bands to display all of the bands in an animation.

Thanks for your reply. I have ENVI 4.8 and on the menu bar File> there is no option for "Data Manager!!! " I have tried to attach a screenshot of what I see on ENVI, but here when I click on"Insert Media" , then on "insert" nothing changes! So I am not able to attach the screenshot to explain my problem better! Sorry!

Hi, If you have ENVI 4.8, you have access to two applications: ENVI Zoom and ENVI. The Data Manager option is available in ENVI Zoom. To open the image in ENVI, select File > Open Image File (as you already did), then select the *_ort_img file if this is a raw AVIRIS image, or select the ENVI-format file otherwise. All of the bands should be listed in the Available Bands List.

Thanks for ur reply. The header file shows that the image has 27 bands, when I open the image from File> Open Image File There is only one type of data format listed *.* , so I have no option to change! At this point, I 'm only be able to see 3 bands. I also tried it from the Data manager in ENVI Zoom, again only 3 bands are displayed! Any comments!

It sounds like there is something unique about this particular AVIRIS file. I suggest that you contact technical support directly to follow up on this issue. Thanks!
