IDL 8.3 running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6 Nvidia K2000 Graphics card, Nvidia 346.59 Driver, Two displays. (Tesla K40 also installed) X11 Server version 11. GLX is not loaded according to glxinfo, if that matters. Open GL installed. This used to work, but sometime after Tesla K40 installed, now I get this error. 1. Object graphics works from command line. 2. Object graphics does not work from idlde -- gives error: plot1 = plot(/test) Failure to acquire window rendering content. Unable to acquire device content 3. Searching the forums, a few years ago it was suggest to use xinerama and this might help. My understanding is that xinerama is not consistent with current Nvidia drivers. 4. In IDL preferences, I have tried software rendering, restart IDL. Then hardware rendering, restart IDL This does not help. Does this mean that I can't use object graphics with the Idlde?

Hello, Have you tried activating Xinerama? This is likely going to be the fix for your problem from the old forum post that you found. Here is a help article for software rendering and Xinerama configuration http://www.exelisvis.com/...cleID/4600/4600.aspx As far as the compatibility with Nvidia drivers, I did see a statement confirming this on a Wiki page (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Multihead), but it also said that if you get an older driver then you should be ok. I would suggest reading the link that the previous web page points to, which is an external forum thread for Xinerama and Nvidia driver version. (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=163319)

If configuring Xinerama is not feasible for you at this time, another thing to try would be to launch the IDL Workbench session in out-of-process mode. Here is a link to a help article that discusses how to do this: http://www.exelisvis.com/Support/Help... Cheers,
