There are a lot of factors that could be affecting this: your CPU performance, what other programs are also running, and if you are trying to quickly draw many different direct graphics windows. Direct graphics depend on your CPU and do not use a graphics card, so if you have a lot of processing going on, then it will likely take longer to make your plots.
