I have not previously used python. I have managed to install it, but in no version am I able to get the bridge to work. For starters, does the bridge only work with 2.7 or will it also work with 3.4 or later? Also, must I use anaconda? I was at one point in the day able to get to the point where the DLM was loaded, but I got an error that crashed out of IDL. Now I think I am facing % PYTHON::RUN: PYTHON::LOAD: Unable to find a valid Python installation. >>> though I have set all the environment variables following the IDL help pages. Any help greatly appreciated. As an update, on my Mac Pro I now have some luck with the installation being found, but get this error: IDL> >>> >>> 2+2 % Loaded DLM: PYTHON27. ImportError: No module named site Sargon/~=>

I have been able to get IDL Python bridge to work on Mac with both Python 2.7 and 3.4. Did you setup the environment as described in the article below?
