Recently I have been unable to get Envi to work. It is a licensing problem. For some reason I can't get the License Server to run. When I try to turn on the License Server I get the message "VD is starting, please check vendor daemon's status in debug log". I have received a new license from Envi but it still can't get the License Server to run. Any help would be most appreciated.

Can you launch LMTools and go to the Server Status tab and select Perform Status Enquiry? This should give more information as to what the issue might be.

Actually, it is my license to Envi 5.2 that I am having trouble getting to work but in any case many thanks for your offer to help. Below the information you were asking for. I have also gotten the following message when I tried to start the licence server "VD is starting, please check vendor daemon's status in debug log” and when I go to reread the licence I get "Reread server failed" which I don't know if it is relevant or not to the problem. I also went into the Services (local) and saw that the FlexNet Licensing Service 64 was actually running in Manual mode. Below also the result from Server Diag.

What is the name of the server in your license.dat file? Here it shows the server name is 108080199. Make sure the server name and server id (mac address) of the system matches that of the license.dat file.
You can change the host name in the license.dat without invalidating the license but you cannot change the server id (mac address) it is tied to. That would require rebuilding the license file.
Also make sure a firewall is not blocking the port.

Thanks again for your help. The MAC address may be the whole problem. The MAC address I have found using the IPConfig/all command is very different eg 40-B8-9A-76-8D-61. I have tried entering this combination of letters and numbers but haven gotten any further. I am trying to work on closing the firewall and then trying but AVG has made it very difficult to do now but I am working on it and will let you know how I made out.

It would require that we rebuild the license in that case, which does require that the license be current on maintenance. You should contact your local representative to discuss a license transfer:
