I use IDL 8.8, and I recently upgraded my OS to Big Sur.
After that I notice that, when I press return on the keyboard to go to the next line, the line below disappears. This happens because the process of creating a new blank line by pressing the return key takes a very long time. After a new line is created, the delated line appears again. I also noticed that if I move the IDL window, the new line appears right away.
This is a very annoying problem, how can I solve it?

We are not seeing this issue on our Big Sur test machine. A few things to try...

Reboot your computer after updating to Big Sur
Reinstall XQuartz 2.7.11 and then restart your computer
Reinstall IDL 8.8 to see if that helps

    Hi

I tried the above but it does not help. It is a bug in in the Java graphics of Exclipse and there seems to be a solution to it. Hope the fix can be bundle into a new IDL distribution

Hi, I currently have exactly the same issue! I wonder anyone knows how to fix this.

This Eclipse bug has been fixed in IDL 8.8.1. Please install that version to fix this Big Sur+ specific issue.

I recently upgraded to Mac OS Monterey, and I am having the same problem. Has the issue reappeared with the new OS?

This issue seems to now be occurring with upgrade to OS Monterey. Will this be fixed for Monterey as well?
