The editor on IDLWorkbench become very slow in response, after I reading and plotting for a while on IDLWorkbench. It responds very slow that for typing each word in the editor the Mac wait cursor would show up. So I have to wait for 1-2 seconds for each input at the editor.

Sometimes click on the trash icon in the lower-right corner would help a little bit, but many times that button does not help much. The other attempt is to close the IDLWorkbench and restart it, that would help but won't solve the issue. The last resort is to reboot the MacBook Pro. This will solve the issue, temporarily. When using IDLWorkbench after a while, the issue comes back again.

I actually read and output a lot from IDLWorkbench. What I realized is that for the first time reading a large satellite dataset, it took a little bit longer; the future time reading the same data from Workbench is slightly faster. I felt that after a session is terminated, the data in memory is not completely cleaned up, but stored in a buffer somewhere for faster use the next time. I am wondering if it is this feature that have the buffer filled up, which makes the response becomes slower and slower.

Please raise your hand if you experience the same issue.

What version of IDL and MacOS are you seeing this behavior on?
