Do you have access to an installation of IDL on your machine (or on your network)? If yes, then the available IDL-Java interfaces are discussed in two manuals. If you open Online Help (type "?" at the IDL> prompt, e.g.), go to its 'Contents' tab page and navigate to 'Programmer's Manuals -> IDL Connectivity Bridges' all the chapters on Java bridges will illiustrate all the IDL-Java interface options available to you in the library ITT is most actively maintaining and expanding. A second option, particularly for interfacing IDL to Java applets embedded on web pages, is ION Java, and its manual is in the 'Guides for Add-On Products -> ION Java User's Guide'. This interface is more an older interface, whose functionality, I suspect, will eventually be overtaken by developments in the other IDL-Java Connectivity Bridges library. If you do not currently have access to IDL and its Online Help system, Email support@ittvis.com, requesting that we Email you as attachments the PDF versions of the manuals I mention above. (Those PDF's are also on the IDL software installation CD, so you could just ask us to send you the installer CD.) James
