So tell me if anyone has such (either at RSI or out in the real world). I'm interested if IDL runs (some things don't), and runs fast. I suspect that it doesn't take advantage of the full 8 GB address space (pity that), but I'm curious what the full memory capabilities are (2? 4?).

Not much more than 2 Gbyte in IDL 6.0: I can create INTARR's of 1010000000 elements, but not 1100000000 elements.
