[INTERNAL USE ONLY] FlexNet Licensing: Steps to Activate Node-Locked Licenses to an Offline machine

Berangere Casson

Note: For versions ENVI 5.4 / IDL 8.6 and greater.

This help article provides steps Harris Technical Support should complete so a customer can do offline node-locked license activation in the case where the computer resides on a network that does not have access to the internet.

For instructions to complete offline activation for a server license please see the link below:

A customer can complete the full offline activation process on their own after Harris Technical Support provides access to the binaries and instructions.

Customers can download full instructions for offline node-locked license activation on demand from D&LC after Harris Technical Support completes the steps described below.

DETAILS

1.       Harris Technical Support needs to create a new maintenance contract in the CRM using the following partnumber: 43OFFACT. This contract should be associated to the contact record of the requestor. The requestor should be DPL checked first.

2.       When configured, the contract should be pushed to the Flexera system. The access to the Activate Offline binaries is then available to the requestor on D&LC.  An email is automatically sent to the requestor.

3.       The customer will download the binaries and install them. The installation should be done both on the offline computer as well as on the online computer that will be used for license activation.

After installing the binaries, new buttons will be added to the Harris License Administrator tool to allow offline activation.

Note that IDL or ENVI installation is also mandatory for both the offline and online machines to complete offline activation.

4.       Detailed instructions for offline activation are available with the binaries on D&LC. The customer is invited to download them. In summary:

a.       The customer will use the Harris License Administrator tool on the offline machine to retrieve offline machine details. They will be saved in a file.

b.       The customer will then move the output file from the offline machine to the online machine and use the Harris License Administrator tool on the online machine to activate the license using the activation codes and the offline machine details.

c.       The binary file generated with the previous step on the online machine will be transferred back to the offline machine for license installation using the Harris License Administrator tool on the offline machine.
