If you are encountering an error message that is not covered in this Help Article, please let us know!
Invalid Host ID
Invalid Host ID:The Host ID supplied is invalid or not supported. Please check the system's host id and rebuild your license. If this is a laptop please contact Technical Support for further assistance.
This error message will occur when the Host ID or Server ID is in an incorrect format.
Before proceeding with troubleshooting for this error, please reference Help Article 5321 for assistance with finding your Host Name and Host ID.
If you are able to confirm you are using the correct information, some other possible solutions are:
1. Some operating systems will provide multiple Host ID's. You might see the output from the license wizard or lmhostid command returned as "123456789123 987654321987". Make sure to only use the first 12 characters of this output.
2. When inputting the Host ID, make sure that you are removing any colons or dashes that might be present. For example, when finding the Host ID manually, you might receive the output as: 12-34-56-78-91-23. When pasting this into the Host ID field, make sure to remove the dashes so this would read as: 123456789123. Only letters and numbers can be used in this field.
3. Ensure that there are no leading or trailing spaces in the Host ID. Try deleting any spaces that might be listed before or after the Host ID (this can happen often when the Host ID is pasted into the field from another source).
4. Linux systems will report a Host ID of 007f0101 if you issue the command "hostid" at a terminal prompt, make sure you are not using this as your Host ID. For information on how to find the full Host ID on a Linux system, please see Help Article 5321.
5. If using a Disk Serial Number (available for only Windows machines), make sure you are using the correct syntax. The correct syntax in the Host ID field will be DISK_SERIAL_NUM=12345678
