Using SAR to Make Infrastructure More Resilient to Climate Change
Infrastructure assets are aging, user demand is heavier than ever and climate change is increasing susceptibility. Keeping infrastructure assets safe and operational under increasingly difficult conditions is becoming a major challenge faced by stakeholders worldwide.
The versatile nature of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) remote satellite sensing makes space-based earth observation extremely useful for monitoring critical infrastructures such as highways, railways, bridges, dams, buildings and industrial plants. Unlike optical sensors, SAR can operate both day and night, and can even see through clouds. Through advanced SAR Interferometric Stacking techniques, structural conditions of assets can be precisely monitored with millimetric accuracy. Combined with additional parameters and by applying AI techniques, susceptibility maps can be produced indicating infrastructure resilience to geohazards such as landslides and subsidence.
Watch this recorded webinar to learn how L3Harris customer Geofem, a civil engineering consultancy, combines their engineering expertise with satellite remote sensing through ENVI SARscape, to provide informed interpretation and advice to their infrastructure customers worldwide.
This webinar is beneficial for:
- Organizations with requirements on infrastructure asset condition, resilience or stability, or other type of land subsidence / uplift or mass movement monitoring
- Public or private organizations, government or state / local authorities related to infrastructure management
- Infrastructure owners and operators, consultants and service providers
- Construction, surveying and mapping companies
- Finance, banking and insurance, legal and regulatory compliance agencies
- Organizations related to risk assessment and public safety
