Exelis, Esri, USGS, and DigitalGlobe Discuss New and Emerging Sensors
Anonym
This year at the Esri International User Conference Exelis VIS hosted a seminar that discussed the importance of new and emerging imagery sensor platforms. We had leaders from USGS and DigitalGlobe present on the characteristics, advantages, and applications of Landsat 8 and the Worldview family of satellites. Also, senior product managers and solution engineers from Exelis VIS and Esri discussed how ENVI and ArcGIS are already being used to extract information from these sophisticated data sources.
In a nutshell, organizations like NASA, DigitalGlobe, RapidEye, Astrium and many others are fielding new earth observation satellites engineered to return useful data for solving mission-specific problems. Each platform uses a slightly different package to deliver this important information. Without tools to properly access, open, and prepare the data for analysis, remote sensing application engineers would be unable to perform tasks like assessing changes in water temperature, quantifying global deforestation, monitoring agricultural crop health, and visualizing changes in an urban landscape. Exelis VIS and Esri are committed to building interoperable software tools that provide access to these new and emerging sensors and give users tailored options for analyzing the data.
