Hello! I have never used IDL before--not a programmer at all, but worked a bit with ENVI last year. Here's my project. I'm conducting archaeological survey in Turkmenistan, in a region heavily obstructed by generally linear, north-south aligned sand dunes. Within this landscape, I'm trying to find ways of isolating the irrigation canals and possible palaeochannels, usually oriented roughtly NW-SE, from the N-S dunes. Would IDL be a good candidate for this kind of image analysis, and what would be a good way of going about it? Thanks very much-- Steve
