How to merge EVF and DBF files? Or merge IDL structure variables into one?

I have 4 sub-images each one with one EVF and one DBF file. The 4 images are slightly overlapped in some areas. I can merge the EVF into one but I'm having some dificulty in creating a unique DBF file. The ENVI help is no help at all... How do I do this? It seems that ENVI only writes DBF files and doesn't read them... For each sub-image I also have structures variables with the DBF attributes. How do I join this structures from the several sub-images into only one final image? The ENVI_WRITE_DBF_FILE function doesn't allow to add several IDL structure variables like the ENVI_EVF_DEFINE_ADD_RECORD function. Any suggestion is welcome...
