I have IDL 7.0.3, Build id: 20080620, under Windows XP Professional (SP3).  Computer: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU @2.66GHz, 3.25GB of RAM I have several problems with IDL starting with version 7: 1. When I start it, I get a message:  An error has occurred. See error log for more details. java.lang.NullPointerException. Then the Workbanch starts.  I do not understand is this error critical or not? 2.  After Workbanch starts, it starts analyszing Code.  It never finishes (never goes above 74-76%), it takes 99% of CPU and more than 300 MB of memory even if I do nothing.  Everything else becomes very slow.

Dear Brandon, Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Thank you for your prompt response.  When I try ‘java –version’ on IDL prompt, it says “%syntax error”.  I work from home today and can start IDL only in Demo mode; however, I’ll try it tomorrow in office. As for SP3, I got this new computer recently with SP3.  I do not remember if my old computer had SP3.  I did not have this error on my old computer; however, IDL 7 was as slow there as it is now.  Actually, the slowness of IDL and the fact that it makes everything else slow was the major motivation for the change of the computer. Thanks, Vladimir
