Dear support team: As Landsat images are not rectangular, we have always some blank areas with background values around images, does the values in those regions take into consideration for histogram matching of two image? If I wanna mosaic two images, is it needed to clip those areas for better matching of histograms? I wonder if it is necessary to cut the irregular edges and eliminate background values around the image to have better matching of histograms for mosaicking. Cheers Abbas

Once you import images into the mosaicking tool in ENVI, you can edit the layer containing the image to specify a background value. ENVI will then ignore pixels with that value when calculating the color balancing (I think that's what you mean when you refer to histogram matching, right?). - Peg Exlis VIS Tech Support
