Hello, I'm working with ENVI 4.7 to do my atmospheric correction with FLAASH. I use a Landsat 8 scene (which contains especially a lake) and implemented Landsat 8 as an unknown senor (using a self created spectral library in ENVI). And now I have a few questions to the multispectral settings. May someone can explain me the "Index to first band"?! I looked at the implemented filter functions to get an overview about this value. But I'm not exactly sure about this. And another question: has the filter function to be in .sli format (like the implemented ones)?! Maybe someone has experiences with Landsat 8 as an unknown sensor in older ENVI versions?! So he or she has tips for the module settings. Thanks for help!

You would need access to the Landsat-8 filter function which was added in ENVI 5.0 SP2 or so. Then, when specifying the filter function in the Multispectral Parameters, you can set the index to the first band in the filter function that matches your data file. Typically, the pan band is the first band in the filter function but not in the MS data file, so you would want to set the index to 1 (while 0 is reserved for the pan band filter function). However, if you layer stacked the pan band and made it the first band in the stack, then the index to the first band might be 0. Yes, the filter functions must be in the ENVI spectral library format (.sli).
