    Hello,

I have downloaded and installed both ENVI and IDL on Linux Ubuntu 14.04
    LTS platform, then licensed them.
Using terminal when I run the command envi, the software launched but
there is a warning message that I need your feedback on how to fix it.

Please find the following snapshot of the message in terminal...

    neso@Neso:~$ envi
    IDL 8.6.0 (linux x86_64 m64).
    (c) 2016, Exelis Visual Information Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of
    Harris Corporation.

Licensed for use by: University of Victoria
    License: MNT-5506616:BF86-3A28-5EA7-F7E8
    % Restored file: ENVI.
    % Loaded DLM: PNG.
    % Loaded DLM: HPGRAPHICS.
    % Loaded DLM: XML.
    Warning: Cannot convert string
    "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal-*-*-120-75-75-p-*-iso8859-1" to type
    FontStruct
    ENVI>

I do appreciate your thoughts and feedback on this.

    Best Regards,
    NFM

This message means that the font type that IDL or ENVI is looking for is not found and is not unique to these products. It should not be a problem running the software. You can try to install these additional fonts on your system. Here are some similar reports on this error and suggestions on how to install fonts:
