IDL 8.6 suddenly stopped working on my laptop. I have a node locked license and things worked great for a few weeks, then all of a sudden my device ID is different and IDL refuses to start. The first 12 digits of the device ID are my network card's MAC address and those have not changed. The rest have changed. Apart from the MAC address, what else is used to generate a devide ID and how come my machine's ID changed?

This is a known issue for some systems that have more than one network card and move on and off a network so that different cards are activated. Please contact your local support services for suggestions on how to address this problem.

I did notice that if I plug an external network card IDL may see the wrong deviceID with the MAC address of that new network card. I made sure that was not the case, unplugging everything, but still the deviceID shows wrong.
Note that when everything is unplugged, the first 12 digits of the deviceID are correct and correspond to the HW address of my wifi card, it's just the rest of the digits that are wrong.

On advice from my local support I tried re-activating the IDL license again using the original activation code. That seemed to do the trick and IDL works now with the new deviceID. I still wonder why my deviceID changed all of a sudden and if it will again in the future. At least I know how to fix it now.
