Hi.
I have installed IDL6.2 on my MacBook (intel, tiger 10.4.9).
There is an warning as :
IDL> x=findgen(101)*(0.01*2.0*!pi)
IDL> y=sin(x)
IDL> plot,x,y
% X windows protocol error: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such
operation).
I don't know how to do with this problem.

We have seen these errors reported when running the Mac PPC binaries on Intel mac. To resolve the problem, you would need to update to IDL 6.3 which supports the Intel Mac.

my macbook is 10.6.7 , and I tried to install IDL6.3, but everytime when I double click IDL to start up Idl, which will disappear in few seconds. I couldn't start my IDL. What is the problem?

IDL 6.3 is well over 10 years old. The current release of IDL is 8.1 and you can download it from our website. You should try a newer version of IDL.
