Platform Support for IDL 8.0 and ENVI 4.8

Platform Vendor Hardware Operating System Supported Versions a
Windows Microsoft Intel/AMD x86 32- and 64-bit Windows XP SP2, Vista, 7
Macintosh Apple Intel 32- and 64-bit OS X 10.5.7 b, 10.6 b
UNIX Sun SPARC 32- and 64-bit Solaris c,d 10
Intel/AMD x86_64 64-bit
Various Intel/AMD x86 32-bit and x86_64 64-bit Linux c,e Kernel version 2.6.9
glibc version 2.3.4
GTK version 2.4.13

a Supported versions indicate that IDL was either built on (the lowest version listed) or tested on that version. You can install and run software on other versions that are binary-compatible with those listed.

b The IDL Workbench on Mac OS X requires Java 1.6. The Apple X11 X-Windows manager is required for Macintosh. If X11 is not already installed, install it from the Mac OS X installation disk.

c The IDL Workbench requires the GTK library version 2.4 or later. Printing functionality in the Workbench requires GTK library version 2.10 or later. If GTK version 2.4 or later is not available, IDL will only run in console mode.

d The IDL Workbench is not supported on Solaris SPARC 32-bit/64-bit and Solaris x86 64-bit machines.

e The Linux version of IDL is built on Red Hat 4. If your version of Linux is
compatible with the listed kernel and glibc versions, you should be able to install and run IDL.
