Begining with ENVI 4.1, the FLAASH module began using tiled processing which allows FLAASH to run on images of any size, regardless of system resources (i.e., available memory). The default setting in FLAASH is to use tiled processing. However, for large datasets that contain large areas of 0's (such as a projected Landsat scene), the FLAASH process will fail because the tile can return all 0 pixels. This will trigger an error message that will be presented in a pop-up GUI and also in the journal.txt that is created in the output file directory specified in the FLAASH parameters dialog. The error message is: IDL error: -551 OPENR: Error opening file. Unit: 100, File: C:\RSI\IDL62\products\envi42\filt_func\tm.sli.hdr in context: avrd: No nonblank pixels found calls: ACC_AVRD ACC_HYPER2 ACC_ACC ENVI_ACC_EVENT ENVI_FLAASH_PROCESS_MANAGER $MAIN$ The message preceeding the 'No nonblank pixels found' statement can vary depending on the last process that occurred in FLAASH and is not indicative of the problem. Workaround: To work around this problem, increase the Tile Size in the Advanced Settings of the FLAASH dialog so that each tile contains some image data. For example, you might try doubling the FLAASH tile size to 200MB from 100MB, which should alleviate the problem.
