ENVI 5: New ENVI Product Names

Product names and the way they are referenced are changing for the ENVI 5.0 release.  ENVI Zoom will now be referred to as ENVI and ENVI 4.8 and previous versions, the three window interface, will be referred to as ENVI Classic.

ENVI 4.8

ENVI 5.0

ENVI Zoom

ENVI

ENVI

ENVI Classic

The 4.8 ENVI/5.0 ENVI Classic interface is the traditional 3-window interface.  4.8 ENVI Zoom/5.0 ENVI uses the single window interface.  The same functionality is available in both, though ENVI 5.0 introduces a searchable toolbox to facilitate finding specific tools.

Finding ENVI Classic:

ENVI 5.0 Classic maintains the functionality of ENVI 4.8 in the familiar configuration.  On Windows 64 bit systems, ENVI Classic can be found under Tools in the ENVI 5.0 program group.  On Windows 32 bit systems, ENVI Classic can be found within the 32-bit folder of the ENVI 5.0 program group.  On Solaris, Linux and 64 bit Mac systems, the Classic interface can be accessed by adding the –classic flag to envi, envihelp, and envi_rt.
