How to install the patch
Summary

What issue does the patch fix?

When opening or working with images larger than 4 GB, ENVI 6.3 could exhibit one or more of the following behaviors:

  • Image colors may change unexpectedly when zooming.
  • Parts of the image may disappear while zooming.
  • Data values or reflectance values across spectral bands may be incorrect.

Therefore, we strongly recommend installing the patch if you work with large image datasets and if the patch is not already installed on the system.

When is the patch installation required?

Whether the patch is required depends on when and how ENVI 6.3 was installed.

Windows: If ENVI 6.3 was downloaded on or after September 2, 2026, the patch is included in the post installation and can be installed automatically during setup. Complete the post-installer setup to install the patch.
   > If ENVI 6.3 was downloaded and installed before September 2, 2026 you would need to download and install the ENVI 6.3 Patch.

Linux: If ENVI 6.3 was downloaded on or after September 2, 2026, the installer already contains the patched files.
   > If ENVI 6.3 was downloaded and installed before September 2, 2026 you would need to download and install the ENVI 6.3 Patch.

macOS: All ENVI 6.3 users must download and install the patch separately.

How to verify the patch is installed

Windows:

Open a Command Prompt and run the following two commands:

powershell "(Get-Item 'C:\Program Files\NV5\ENVI63\IDL93\bin\bin.x86_64\ncom_plugins\udmcoreplugin.dll').VersionInfo"

powershell "(Get-Item 'C:\Program Files\NV5\ENVI63\IDL93\bin\bin.x86_64\ncom_plugins\udmnitfplugin.dll').VersionInfo"
