how to read SIR-C tar files 1839 0

Hi,
I found that USGS is distributing now SIR-C MLC images trough ftp (tar files). Is it any way arround to read such data to ENVI I think that the proper way it should be troug tape utilities but I have no clue how to force ENVI to read tar file instead of tape device. Does anybody faced with this problem already And/or maybe is aother way arround
Any suggestions

Hi there,
I've been trying to multilook both single-look and multi-look complex SIR-C data with ENVI with no success. The problem appears when I wish to synthesize the .cdp file generated by the multi-look process. Although the number of rows and columns changes, the header of the new multilooked file is exactly the same as the original one. Does anybody know what happens with especially the offset as well as with the nr. rows and columns of the image when it is multilooked Any help will be...

Dear all,
I created a program in which several ENVI routines are being used. It works fine as long as the source code has not been compiled. When I compile the program and call the .sav routine on another machine, it crashes when I select a file. Files are being selected using ENVI_SELECT. The failure message is the following:
Variable is undefined: E_INVISIBLE_FLAG (ENVI_GLOBALS1_COMMON).
Execution halted at: ENVI_ENTER_FILE
ENVI_OPEN_FILE

MNF-transform field spectra 2190 0

have some field spectra that was collected with a ASD field spectrometer. I want to be able to use this data as endmembers for classifying a Hymap image. Problem is the Hymap is MNF-transformed, and the field spec is in reflectance. Its easy to transform an image, but I cant figure out how to MNF-transform a spectral library signature. Anybody have any ideas for this - CHarlie F

Hello,
I am trying to compute the ndvi of a landsat picture dataset by using ENVI 3.5
i am using band 4 and 3 by using the bandmath tool in the envi menu but it seems the result is not correct to me (i have compared with ER MAPPER results),
i maybe forget to do something while i am loading the bands
someone could help me

Greetings!
I am currently looking into the various image enhancement tools available in ENVI and would appreciate if someone can give me guidance.
I have a set of satellite images and there are some situations where I need to perform enhancement. They are:
1. Areas that are covered by cloud shadows and need to be dodged to bring out the features
2. Areas that are over-exposed and need to be 'darkened'
3. Adjacent images in which one is taken on a 'misty' day while the other is tak...

I m working on SRTM tiles and I m trying to stitch 6 of them together. Therefore I m using the Mosaicking option in Envi. The problem is that I just arrive to stitch 2 georefernced tiles together (1401x1201 pixels)and not all the 6 of them (2401x3601 Pixels). It s possible for me to stitch them together in the pixelbased mode but I need the georeferenced mosaicking. Maybe there is just a parameter to change, but whichHow can I do

Dear Friends,
I have a pushbroom hyperspectral imaging system, which scans from 1000 to 1800 nm. The camera is equipped with an InGaS detector array of size 320 x 243 (spatial x spectral); and it has about 2 bad pixels. So, in the hyperspectral image, for each bad pixel, I am getting a bad line. The location of bad line varies from one band to the other and some of them are visible only at particular band.
I tried to run PCA. But it couldn't get through because the image had -NaN valu...

Hello
Before I classify my hyperspectral image i pull up my training ROIs and reconcile them to the original image and then perform max likelihood classification after that I pull up my testing ROIs and reconcile them to my classified image and then I go to post classification (ROC CURVES) but for some reason it wont bring up my testing files in add the combination
( my input parameters are input file is selected as the original image and the ground truth img is the classified image as it wont...

I have a hyperspecttal image (x,y,l). I want to transpose this 3D matrix such that the resulting image is (x, l, y). That is, one spatial axis became spectral axis and vice versa. How can I do this in ENVI or IDL Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I'm trying to correct a few Hyperion images from Radiance to Reflectance. I'm using ENVI 4.2 and FLAASH. I've read a few hands-on processing instructions that i got from the internet, but none seem to give me accurate results. Anybody know if there is a full processing outline for Hyperion processing with ENVI out there
