How do you label output variables in an IDL FOR loop for further processing outside the loop? 1052 0

I have an IDL FOR loop which is something like this:
atom = G&91*,k:*:215&93
What I would like to be able to do is to store in memory the array for each atom, say, atom_k and then call these different variables to perform further operations outside the FOR loop. Conceptually, I want to label the "atom" variable with the "k" counter somewhat like this:
FOR k = 1,200 DO
atom(k) = G&91*,k:*:215&93
ENDFOR

I'm using IDL DE 7.1.1 on Vista 64-bit. I have a program which uses widgets to apply certain fits and display some astronomical maps through an iterative process. After each iteration the program updates the display to show the new fits. I also have a widget button which starts the whole process.
When I first start up the program, and start the fitter everything works fine.. The program goes through about 100 iterations and updates the display each time.

In IDL 8.0.1 on my MacOSX system running the Server version of the OS, I can't plot to X windows when I run idl from the command line:
IDL> plot,findgen(100)

I have created a project in IDL which uses a custom DLL/DLM (release x64) that I created and compiled using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. The DLL compiles fine and when I add the DLL and DLM to the IDL DLM Path the program works fine within the workbench and in a stand alone Run Time Distribution created from Make_RT on a machine with Visual Studio and a full IDL license installed. Griding a sphere in Object Graphics 964 1

I've been trying to map some data onto a sphere (and succeding!) but I have bumped into this problem a couple times and never really been able to find a satisfying way of solving it.
The proble is this : I want to put 2 spherical axis' (longitude and latitude) on the sphere on which I am ploting my data. Axis' with steps, and values and possibly titles. All things which are easily done on a 2D contour plot.

Hello,
do anybody knows how to zoom into a map projection and showing the location by input the latitude and the longitude
I've already knew how to zoom and show the location by clicking the left mouse button.
But now i want to replace the mouse button click, by input the latitude and longitude into the comand line or into a textlabelwidget.

I have C code wrapped with a java api. I am using the java bridge to access the API and that seems to work fine. However, the java cannot seem to see the the underlying C libraries (my supposition here) . I get the following error:

I am an IDL beginner and trying to write a code to make a multispectral composite image from cloud free pixels of 4-5 multispectral images. I have already masked the cloudy pixels from the multispectral images that i wish to use for making the final composite. My psudo code for making this composite is something like this:

Hello,
I had a question about using QROMB function in IDL. I would appreciate it if you could help me on this matter. Here is what I want to do:
I want to numerically integrate a function inside a procedure. The integration is inside a loop and some constants that are necessary for the function which I want to integrate, are constantly being updated inside the loop. Please let me know how I can do this using QROMB.

I compile and run the code everything works. I create a .sav and everything else works, but the plot function opens up a window thats all black (can still see the menu buttons, but the entire plot area is black). It appears that I can still select a plot, set a different color etc, but the window remains all black ie. I can't see anything. Again only happens when running the .sav in the vm... in the de it works np.
Anyone encounter something like this Anything in particular Is there...
