(Installer name) "not a valid win32 application" error

When installing an Exelis VIS program, there is a chance you may encounter an error that it is "not a valid win32 application".

While this is a general Windows error that can be encountered on any .exe file, there are some things that you can try to resolve the error.

1. Verify you have downloaded the correct installation file for your system.  This can be encountered when attempting to use the 64-bit installation file on a 32-bit Windows system.

2. If attempting the installation from a physical disk that you received, verify that the disk is not scratched or unreadable.

3. If the file was downloaded via our website, it is possible that it was corrupted during the download.  Try completing the download once again and if possible, temporarily disable any anti-virus software that may be running at the time of download/installation.  Alternatively, you can attempt the installation in Windows Safe Mode, or the full download in Safe Mode with Networking.

NOTE: While users have experienced positive results attempting the download and installation with anti-virus software disabled, we do recommend checking with your system administrator before doing so, and advise that you proceed at your own risk.

4. If the file was downloaded via our website, try also attempting the download in another browser.

5. Perform any available service pack upgrades to your operating system, then attempt the download/installation again.

If you are experiencing this issue with all .exe files on your system, it may indicate an issue with the operating system itself.  We would suggest contacting your system administrator for additional assistance.

A disk can be requested via our website, at the bottom of the product download you are attempting to install (it will be labled "Click here to have media shipped").  Our downloads can be found here:

You are also welcome to contact Exelis VIS technical support to request a disk be shipped to you.
