Removing clouds 1354 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi all. I'm totally new to image analysis. I'm trying to do a supervised classification on a mosaic with clouds in some regions. I understand how to creat a mask to exclude those areas during the classification. But what happens to the areas where the pixels are removed How do you fill in the landcover type you think should be there Also, how do you deal with the cloud shadow
Thanks so much for your help!

Programmatically opening a shapefile 1188 0
Started by Deleted User
Greetings,
Is it possible to open a shapefile programmatically w/o using 'IDLffShape'
The ENVI GUI menu offers File>Open Vector File, but I cant find an envi_open_vector_file routine.
Is this because that GUI option uses IDLffShape
I want to allow the user to select the shapefile from a gui interface in the same way Id use envi_pickfile or envi_open_data_file.
Thanks, Matt

I don't know , Is it possible or not , But , i wanna to know is it possible to simulation radar images from one mode to another mode , for example from mode S2 to S7 .
If it is possible , this task is possible with ENVI softwares

Label x-axis in x-profile and y-profile? 1032 2
Started by Deleted User
Hi folks,
I've looked around and want to make sure that I am not missing anything.
I have a hypercube where the three physical axes are wavelength and two angles. Does anyone know a method where, using ENVI, one can bring up an x-profile or y-profile and instead of sample (for x-profiles) or line (for y-profiles) one can label the x-axis with say, angle number This would be analogous to using wavelength instead of band number as the x-axis label for a z-profile.
If not ENVI, is this ...

We don't have ENVI but EI in our country office. However, our colleagues in the field (Africa) have ENVI. I am sending this message on their behalves as they have very limitted internet access.
They would like to know the way to batch process in ENVI. Is there a way to go arround IDL programming and rather use a GUI like in EI COuld you direct then to a turorial
Thank you very much for your answer.

Changing ENVI temporary directory 1341 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi,
I am trying to run few instances of IDL runtime with ENVI function (GLT_DOIT) simultaneously. What i realise is that these instances all write to a single temp file envi.tmp0-bsq. This fails almost all runtime instances. Does ENVI check for presence of file before dumping data to the temp file
Is there a way to get around this Can I change to different temp directories for different instance for example
Thanks for any help.

I would appreciate it if anyone of you has already developed an algorithm for estimation of LST from NOAA AVHRR images.
Moreover, did anyone of you know how to calibrate the MetOp-A data
Thanks in advance,

FLAASH and smoke haze artifact 959 1
Started by Deleted User
I have used FLAASH to atmospherically correct an Ikonos image. The image had forest fire smoke haze which I was content to leave in the image - as it was in the top right corner (out of the way). However I seem to have an artefact in the ex-FLAASH image that looks like smoke haze right across the middle of the output image. The artefact is a line with a sharp edge running width ways, halfway up the image and it 'feathers' out for a distance (perhaps1/20th of the image). Is leaving smoke in one p...

Rule images for maximum likelihood classification 1174 2
Started by Deleted User
I`m triying to compare some supervised classifications and I need to use the rule images for the maximum likelihood classification. I cannot use these images because they have values ranging from -300.000 up to 100. I have tried to change the scale factor several times, but I cannot obtain any reasonable values... What I need is a probability image ranging from 0-1 or any other proportional variation.
Can anyone help me, With the rule classifier I only obtain binary images (0 or 1 values), ...

Reading MERIS data 1135 1
Started by Deleted User
The ENVI help file says that 'ENVI applies gains and offsets to the geophysical (non-reflectance) products, so you do not need to apply them'. When I open up an MERIS level 1 image (ESA N1 data) the the data are 16 bit numbers. In other words, I have to apply the scaling factors to get the geophysical floating point numbers. Does anyone know a way around this

Convert contours to DEM 1168 0
Started by Deleted User
I'm now using ENVI version 4.4. I have used the function converting contour to DEM but it seemed to be unsuccessful. At the final step of choosing DEM output parameter i met the error message 'Attemp to call undefined procedure/function: 'ENVI_GRID_PARAM_EVENT'' . I have tried again in ENVI 4.1 and haven't met this error. Is it an error in ENVI 4.4 and how can i fix it

Automatically loading file created with ENVI_OUTPUT_TO_EXTERNAL_FORMAT? 1041 2
Started by Deleted User
I'm trying to output the ROI of an image with the following code:
ENVI_OUTPUT_TO_EXTERNAL_FORMAT, dims=dims, fid=fid, OUT_NAME=noexttypetime'.bin', /ENVI, pos=pos
Now the code works, the file is created, all is well and good BUT the new file is automatically loaded into my 'Available Bands' list. Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening

Using ENVI Menu Functions with new IDL .pro 1164 1
Started by Deleted User
In the simplest terms, I'm trying to create a program that I can add to ENVI's menu structure that will call the ROI Tool which exists at Basic Tools-> Region of Interest-> ROI Tool. When I go to the envi.men file, I can see that that menu option corresponds to the following code (in envi.men):
{ROI Tool} {roi tool} {envi_menu_event}
I have this basic, bare bones .pro that I want to accomplish the same thing as that menu selection:
pro callROI, event
xmanager, envi_menu_event, base, EV...

Edit header or convert map projection ? 938 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi all,
I have a question about envi images and associated header files. In an IDL script, i used ENVI_setup head and output an image from the script. The results are all ok, but the projection coordinates of the output are slightly off from the input image. Its probably negligible because they line up perfectly and the difference is only in the numbers after the third decimal place
( for eg. Input (53283.234) vs output(53283.239 )). I usually end up importing the header file into the outpu...

Creating ROIs and using them in IDL 1131 2
Started by Deleted User
Hi all,
I have a problem with the following code. I want to create an ROI by band threshold, convert the ROI into a class image, and then sieve the class image. I am able to do this perfectly using the ENVI GUI. However, I want to do this in an IDL script and am able to create the ROI, but am not able to proceed further. I think i'm messing up the ROI_IDS concept and that maybe the problem. But i'm not quite sure. I am basically following the same steps as i would when i use the GUI.
Anot...
