Linux C program debugging via GDB going through IDL's CALL_EXTERNAL 1417 1
Started by Deleted User
We are developing an IDL API for our existing C code. We are using a Linux system.
We are connecting IDL .pro's to the new API C code .so's through CALL_EXTERNAL. Problem is, we need to debug our new C code that is receiving parameters from IDL. How can we use a debugger like GDB to step through our C code while it is being run via IDL's CALL_EXTERNAL Anyone ever do this before in Linux
Thanks for any advice!

dicomviewer opening multiple images 1157 0

My dicom_veiwer seems unable to open (or recognize) multiple images stored in a single directory. The example given in the pdf manual works (john doe), but interestingly has only one dicom file which opens as multiple images.

box line gif plots produced using polyfill uneven 1086 1
Started by Deleted User
I have an odd problem no one here can seem to help with. I am producing box line plots using polyfill
to create and fill the boxes. I have the correct x coordinates for each box. When I produce a gif or png plot directly, I get lines of different apparent widths for each year in my timeseries. If I produce a postscript plot instead and then convert it using 'xv' and then save the gif output, the lines look fine. If I convert the plot with convert, I get uneven lines.
It seems like some kind ...

The Chinese Fonts can't be detected In Vista OS 1053 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi
I want to draw map use IDL 6.4 in Vista OS.
But I find that the Chinese fonts can't be shown rightly , the output-log window has a hint that IDL can't detected the Fonts.
If I copy the Chinese fonts from other Windows OS (2000\XP\2003) to Vista ,the Chinese fonts can be shown rightly.
Is this a bug in IDL 6.4

Number of plot ticks limited to 59, any hack around it? 1260 1
Started by Deleted User
I've discovered that the number of ticks on an x-y plot is limited to 59. When I explicitly enter a number greater than this (xticks=60), I received the error: 'Value of number of ticks is out of allowed range.' If the LABEL_DATE command is used to automatically determined the number of ticks, the plot is simply created with only 59 ticks.
Is there any way to hack around this limit and display a plot that has more than 59 ticks (up to 5000 ticks would be preferable for my application.)
