How to manually connect a client machine to a server machine in the Next-Generation Licensing system

Client/server connection can be completed using the Harris License Administrator GUI

https://www.nv5geospatialsoftware.com/docs/install-windows.html#Client

However some customer configuration may require to manually create this client/server connection

Below are the steps to complete for such manual connection

- create a text file called lic_server.dat

- include the following line in this file

http://server_ip:4080

where server_ip = the IP address or hostname of the license server

- save this file in the below directory on each client machine

Windows: C:\Program Files\Harris\license\

Linux: /usr/local/harris/license/

Mac: /Applications/Harris/license/

- start ENVI or IDL to confirm if the connection is well set
