How to install and license ENVI 6.x and SARscape 6.1
This help article will describe:
A) How to perform a fresh installation of ENVI 6.x and SARscape 6.1 and how to license it
B) How to upgrade your ENVI version and license to the latest version.
Note: SARscape 6.1 is compatible with both ENVI 6.1 and 6.2
A) Fresh installation of ENVI 6.x and SARscape 6.1:
Log in to your account on our download page: https://www.nv5geospatialsoftware.com/Product-Downloads
PS: Our download page has changed since April 2024 and if you have not registered since then, you need to freshly register on our new download page.
If you have already created a new account but have forgotten your password, use the “reset password” function.
If there are any questions or issues, please contact technical support.
1.) Download the following products for your selected operating system:
a) ENVI 6.1 or ENVI 6.2
b) SARscape 6.1
c) Next-Generation License Server 4.4 **Mandatory step for SARscape license activation
2.) Proceed with the following Installation steps:
a) Install ENVI 6.1 or ENVI 6.2 on your machine.
b) Install SARscape 6.1 on your machine into your latest ENVI directory.
Follow the OpenCL Installation, if needed. See SARscape Install Guide for more information.
c) Install the Next-Generation License Server on your local computer or on a dedicated server machine. Either will work depending on your needs.
3.) Licensing:
SARscape licenses need to be activated to a NG License Server.
Activate your licenses on your NG License Server, using the new license server GUI or the command prompt.

4.) Connect your machine with your NG license server
Connect your (client) machine with your NG License Server as described in the documentation:
https://www.nv5geospatialsoftware.com/docs/envi-install.html#Server
This step is also needed, even if ENVI and the NG License Server are installed on the same machine.
5.) Install the latest SARscape patch: **Mandatory step for SARscape to become fully functional
To make sure that all known bugs or issues in SARscape have been fixed, we recommend regularly checking in the ENVI toolbox under “SARscape > Last patch available” whether the latest SARscape patch is installed.
Double click “Last patch available”, download the patch for your operating system, close ENVI and then install the patch and restart ENVI.
B) How to upgrade your ENVI version and license to the latest version:
If you currently use an older ENVI version like 6.1 and SARscape 6.1 and want to upgrade to ENVI 6.2, you can follow the below steps:
1.) Download ENVI 6.2 and SARscape 6.1 (if the SARscape product is no longer available on your machine) from our download page: https://www.nv5geospatialsoftware.com/Product-Downloads
2.) Install ENVI 6.2 on your machine (you can leave the ENVI 6.1 installation on your machine if you want)
3.) Run the SARscape 6.1 Installer. It will detect that SARscape is already installed on your machine and will remove and freshly install it on top of both ENVI 6.1 and ENVI 6.2.
4.) Upgrade your active licenses on your NG License Server by following the steps described in the documentation:
