global spatial statistics: semivariogram 2085 1
Started by Deleted User
I would like to know how the semivariance is calculated in ENVI's global spatial statistics. Which pixels are involved ie, Is the output the result of it being calculated along 1 long transect or is it the average of multiple transects or a matrix
What does the neighbourhood rule control I am confused as to what is meant by the 'central pixel' and that relates to the calculation of semivariance. Is a moving window involved
Thanks!

Spectral Derivative with ENVI 4.2 1209 0

Hi everyone,
I downloaded the spectral derivative tool from the following url: http://www.ittvis.com/codebank/search.aspFID=77
I included this .sav file in the ENVI 4.2 save/add folder. After re-booting computer and launching ENVI, 'spectral derivative' appears under the 'transform' and 'spectral' menu's in the ENVI 4.2 menu bar.
When I try to use this tool I get the following error: 'Attempt to call undefined procedure/function: DERIV'
This tool works perfectly in ENVI 4.1, but I...

Running ENVI on Linux, any workarounds for the segmentation fault problem? 1403 0
Started by Deleted User
Hi all,
I've recently installed ENVI 6.3 on my brand new Linux intallation (openSuSE 10.2, all the latest patches, updates etc) and I continually see the following when I try to start up ENVI:
Restored file: ENVI.
Loaded DLM: TIFF.
Segmentation fault
I briefly see a window flash up on the screen for a split second before this error appears.
I have had a bit of a search around on here and on google, and have seen a number of other posts on the subject. However, I tried a few of th...

Calculating satellite Zenith and Azimuth ASTER 1297 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi All,
I am trying to calculate the satellite zenith and azimuth parameters for an ASTER Level 1B image. The default values in FLAASH are Zenith: 180 and Azimuth 0. I am almost certain that these values are correct as ASTER does not have a steerable / off-nadir viewing capabilities. Are my assumptions correct I have read that the azimuth and zenith can be calculated using the satellite position and and line of sight vector information provided in the hdf parameters table. Does anyone know h...

I use Flaash to do atmospheric correction for MODIS. Now i have a question: the output of flaash is reflectance with unitless. This reflectance is irrandiance(up) over irradiance(down), right
Thanks in advance.

FLAASH - which band centres/widths are loaded for the CASI setting / can you change them? 1481 1
Started by Deleted User
I am trying to use the FLAASH add-on to ENVI for correction of some airborne hyperspectral CASI images. The CASI sensor's bands are not fixed and it is unlikley any two users will have identical band settings.
Can anyone please tell me:
- which band centres and widths are supported by the current sensor type - hyperspectral 'CASI' setting
- can I input my own spectral library of CASI bandpass filters to use instead

FLAASH: Advanced settings 1277 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi all,
Following my last post, I am now correcting, the ASTER Radiance imagery using FLAASH. I have all the correct settings and through trial and error have identified the optimal 'Output Scale Reflectance Factor' value to be 10. The manual suggests a value of 10 000. When I use 10 000 I get an image that looks nothing like the input data, however, when the value of 10 is used the image resembles the input with output values ranging from around 10 to above 50 but no more than 90.
Is thei...

area estimation using Band threshold to ROI 1357 0
Started by Deleted User
I have got problem in getting area from the ROI.
currently,I am estimating the lake area with time using band threshold to ROI tool.however the area shown under option- report area of ROI is all the same.Actually the lake shrinks & gets dry with time. how can get the area estimate with in the ROI generated
I am not sure whether I am doing wrong with the ROI( assumed maximum lake area extent) using polygon or polyline.

ENVI's automatic ASTER 1A/1B calibration Tech tip 4114. What about Level 3A1? 1415 3
Started by Deleted User
This post refers to the Tech tip ID 4114.
I have some ASTER data processed to Level 1A, 1B and the orthorectified 3A1. I want to atmospherically correct the data using FLAASH. The tech tip explains that ENVI automatically applies calibration coefficients when opening level 1A and 1B according to EDC DAAC guidelines. This is however not performed on the level 3A1 data. When opened as (HDF EOS format) the data are simply scaled to 8bit 0 - 255 and not physical radiance units. I would therefore ...

Scaling reflectance values? 1372 1
Started by Deleted User
This isn't really an ENVI specific issue but nonetheless somebody might be able to help me as I am having real problems getting my head around this problem. As I want to compare image spectra with library spectra I need to atmospherically correct ASTER data; I have used a variety of ENVI tools to do this (flat field, log residuals) and also got AST_07 surface reflectances. As these surface reflectances have a variety of value ranges (both from dataset to dataset and for each band of the datasets...
