Launching ROI tool from script 1128 1
Started by Deleted User
I have written a program that creates rois (using envi_create_roi) that I may (or may not) want to display in my image group. However these rois do not display without me remembering to have the roi tool already open (which I sometimes forget to launch because I use this program somewhat infrequently).
Anyway, is there a way that I can automatically open and close the roi tool for a display group from a script

Principal Components analysis/factor loadings 1584 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi there--
I'm learning my way around ENVI (and remote sensing in general)...
I've run a PCA analysis on all 12 bands of an ASTER image. I'm trying to figure out how to interpret the stats file--I get a covariance matrix, a correlation matrix, eigenvalues, and the other data I expect to find. However, in all the matrices, both the rows and the columns are labeled Band 1-12. I can't tell which one pertains to the original bands, and which pertains to the PC's.
Usually, I see cell he...

Sensor line in building RPCs 1263 1
Started by Deleted User
In the ENVI help for 'Building RPCs', the diagram for the line central projection method shows the flight direction perpendicular to the scan lines. By selected X or Y for the 'Sensor line along axis' option, can you make the program work with a flight line that is parallel to the scan line (as for CORONA satellite images) Or does the program always assume the flight line and scan lines are perpendicular

Vegetation Analysis/Vegetation Index Calculator 1168 1
Started by Deleted User
I am a new ENVI user. I have used the NDVI and Tasseled Cap vegetation indices that are built into the ENVI program on my images and everything worked fine. I want to use a few more, but when I tried using the vegetation index calculator on my images an error message kept coming up. The error message says 'wavelengths must be defined to calculate vegetation indices.' I am not sure what I am supposed to do to get the vegetation index calculator to work.

Histograms and Supervised Classifications 1157 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi--I'm new to ENVI--using it in an archaeological context. Here's my question--I have some ROI's defined for a river delta. I also have a survey area that takes up a small part of the river delta--but since the survey area is unexplored, there are no ROI's from that area. I tried using an Endmember classification with some interesting results. The endmember spectra were just imported from the ROI's for the original image. But can I do this, or do I need to match the historgrams first Wil...

Convert Map Projection Error - Rigorous 1195 1
Started by Deleted User
I'm trying to convert a map projection of a very large (i.e., 61000 by 17000 pixels) image using ENVI 4.3's 'Rigorous' conversion parameter. I get an error when trying to convert the full image but not when I do a smaller subset.
The error is: 'array dimensions must be greater than 0.'. Any thoughts or suggestions
Thanks

empirical line 1103 0

Hi Everybody,
I am trying to get reflectance value from Aster L1B data (VNIR ans SWIR bands). I wanted to use empirical line method from ENVI 4.3. I tried to process but at the end of the process I lost my band 9. At beginning I have 9 bands after application my band 9 become completly dark. Do you know what is the reason of this
thank you,
Filiz

Altering multiple ROIs 1184 0
Started by Deleted User
Hi
Anyone know how I can change the details of multple ROI's at the same time I want to change the name and colour of multiple ROI's at the same time to the same vasue. It would be great to be able to change them in a text editor, or to import from a text file to multiple ROIs.
Cheers.

estimate SNR? 1160 0
Started by Deleted User
Hi folks,
I've seen papers where the SNR for a scene has been estimated for a scene using the data itself. These papers have brief discussions of how they did it, but it didn't quite make sense to me. Can anyone give a fairly complete outline of how this is done

ENVI Spectral Math Question 1385 1

Is there a way to subtract a spectrum from every pixel in an image simultaneously The ENVI spectral math help only seems to address it on a pixel-by-pixel basis, and I need to subtract the Martian dust spectrum from an entire image.

Read/write associated DEM file name? 1408 1

So am I missing something, or can you not programmatically read or write the name of an associated DEM (the 'dem file' and 'dem band' settings) to a header file If this isn't possible, any chance of getting it into ENVI 4.4

Adding tiling to an ENVI/IDL program - smoothing/averaging HSI data 1363 2
Started by Deleted User
I have code for IDL to smooth hyperspectral data by utilizing a moving average. I need to add a function to tile the information, because I am currently limited to what memory my computer has available (which isn't much). Alternatively, are there any modules in ENVI that can average spectra, because I have used the spatial smoothing functions, but perhaps there is a way to apply this to the spectral data
I've included my code below.
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm having difficulty installing ENVI on Ubuntu 7.04 (x86_64). I can run the installer, accept the license, and choose the options to install, and get past the installation summary. After that, I get an immediate error:
/usr/local/rsi/idl_6.3/bin/post_unpack was not found. There may be errors setting up the product environment.
This is followed by a number of other errors stating that various scripts were not found or files were not found so no links were created.
