ENVI 5.0 crashes when saving as ENVI from landsat 8 images 1323 2

Dear ENVI users,
the new functionality of ENVI 5.0 for uploading Landsat 8 tiffs from metadata file is very useful. Anyway, I found a big problem when trying to saving the uploaded images to envi format (.dat header). Whenever I try to do this by following
SAVE AS >> ENVI
the program unconditionally crashes. There is anyone havng the same problem Is this a known common problem Is there a way to save Landsat 8 imagery in ENVI format
I really need help, hope someone can give advices.

To Process a Landsat 8 OLI, To get Reflectance Value of from Land surface what type of processing can be used
Using ENVI 5.1 after Radiometric Calibration flaash correction is essential for it, or Dark object Subtraction is essential or not necessary
What is the Best Way:
1) Radiometric Calibration> Dark object Subtraction> Flaash
2)Radiometric Calibration> Flaash
3)Radiometric Calibration>Flaash> Dark object Subtraction

Hi there,
i've got another question regarding ENVI Classic and IDL.
I have a raster which i want to open in ENVI Classic from IDL.
Code:
e=envi()
raster=e.OpenRaster(A)
print, raster
data = raster.GetData();BANDS=&910&93)
view=e.GetView()
layer=view.createlayer(raster)
So this opens my raster in ENVI, but want it to open just in ENVI Classic. I've found a way to cheat it by using ENVI_ClassicIDL and closing the new ENVI window everytime ...

Hi,
I'm using ENVI 5.1 and FLAASH for correct Hyperion images. The FLAASH run well but checking the journal file I had same issue. This is the menssage generated.

How do you save the current view in FULL resolution? 1623 1

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to save a multiband file to a standard TIFF file that shows the RGB view you see in ENVI, and is also in FULL resolution.
The standard Save-As doesn't preserve the RGB view, it would appear, and Chip View is no better than a screencapture. So how do I do this

Dear all,
I have a problem in using FLAASH module. I would like to atmospherically correct a Landsat ETM image over an African volcano. So basically, I am only interested in this volcanic area.
1. Can I just use a subset (covering this volcano) of this image, or do I have to use the entire image for atmospheric correction
2. If the subset of this image, what should I input for the "Scene Center Location" and "Ground Elevation" I mean: center location/Elevation of this smal...

can anyone help me. Please! i really purposely registered coz you might help me with my problem.
The aim in our project is to get chlorophyll a content (mg/L) out of the Landsat ETM image using band algorithms in ENVI. I have already made the image atmospherically corrected which now, have reflectance pixel values. i tried then some known band algorithms afterwards as stated in some researches. however, i am kinda confused if the results were already the chlorophyll content.

I'm getting extremely frustrated with Envi. Right now, I'm trying to put together a mosaic (for the first time). There is a field for "Data value to ignore", which I presume will help me get rid of the black borders on the overlays.
The problem is that the value under the cursor is composed of *three* numbers, whereas the data ignore field only takes one. And not a damned thing in the Help file shows you which number to use. Every example I find uses a background data of &910,0,0...

Hi,
I have a problem on Envi (4.8). When I want to resize data or to save images to TIFF or JPEG.
When I want to resize data, and change the numbers (for example y factor or x factor) the numbers go all wrong (it adds lots of 0 numbers or negative numbers...) then it cannot do the 'resize' action.

I am trying to digitize some analogue bathymetry charts, whereby each chart comes with the lat/long on the 4 corners. What I would like to do is to trace out the bathymetry contour lines on the charts so that I can export the lat/long information together with the corresponding depth value. How do I go about doing this Or can someone please point me to a good Envi reference to get me started

I did not want to open a support request; shall I do for bugsWhen I use reproject, from UTM to Lambert; I change pixel size.Then image is not reprojected properly. However if I do not change pixel size there is no error.So I have to reproject images first, then resample until bug fix or I complete my operations. I use AVIRIS data.

PPI selects endmembers by projecting n-dimensional data on a a straight line that is constrained to pass through the data mean, and selecting extrema.
SAM determines spectral uniqueness based on the angular distance between an endmember and a trial pixel relative to the origin (zero reflectance). That means that the SAM vectors for two PPI endmembers, one dark and one bright) could be identical. Has anyone explored the implications of this mismatch

So when I add the shapefiles to ENVI 5.0 for the first time, everything was fine; however, by looking at ArcCatalog I can see the files that listed:
nameofshapefile.shp.vqt.shp
So when I delete it it the shapefile disappear in ArcCatalog...how do I solve theisproblem Thanks
