Error opening tiff in ENVI ZOOM 1646 2
Started by Deleted User
I'm new to ENVI, but I trying to use ENVI ZOOM to identify shrubs in the desert using the feature extraction tool. I was able to do this using a tiff file created by clipping a large NAIPS image into a smaller file focused on my study area. To get higher resolution, I made exported several zoomed-in maps in ArcMap 10.1 and combined them into a single tiff file (which I can load into ArcMap without a problem). When I tried to open this file, I received an error message stating that ENVI could ...

QUAC with RapidEye 1412 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi there,
I am trying to correct RapidEye imagery for atmospheric effects using QUAC function in ENVI. The output values I get are between 0 and 12000, however only about 0.05 of the values are above 10000. For surface reflectance, I would expect to get a value between 0 to 1 or 0 to some scaling factor such as 100. Just wanted to know if 10000 is the scaling factor used and if so why I get those values over 10000. Am I missing a step such as correcting for illumination variations, or is it be...

interactively setting thresholds/color slices 1243 1
Started by Deleted User
I am looking for a way to interactively set thresholds for color slicing a single band image in ENVI 5.0. The Raster slices doesn't show the result to changing the thresholds directly. The Scatter Plot window doesn't work for a single band variable. I've tried replicating the band into the same image (layer stacking) and it sort of works but not very well. Wonder if another function in ENVI might not let me do this more directly.
Thanks

Stretching on Specific area 1172 1
Started by Deleted User
I have being using classic, but decided to try the newer interface. One of the most used features for me is stretching based on a specific area. i.e zoom window. Ex. I need to do an equaliztion based on the information contained within a specific area of the image, not the entire image. How can I do this in the new interface

Landsat radiometric calibration 1245 1
Started by Deleted User
I just upgraded from ENVI 5.0 to sp2, doing a full install on Mac OSX10.7. In 5.0 I used the Landsat Calibration tool to convert Landsat DN to radiance, and noticed that in this version the tool has been integrated into the Radiometric Calibration tool. I loaded a Landsat 7 file using Open As -> Landsat -> Geotiff with Metadata, the RGB image displayed as before. When I tried to use the Radiometric Calibration tool I ran into an issue.
In the tool I chose one of the bands of the Landsat file a...

Is there any way to rescue this poligons to use it out of ENVI 5 The tool "Ann to DXF" don't works with anz files.

Mask or subset image. 1257 3
Started by Deleted User
Hello all,
I'm stick in processing. I have CASI mosaic aprox. 4 GB big, 1m spatial res, 7.2 spec. res., 48 band image.
I want to mask out non tree area from this mosaic. I know how to do that. But then became the last step ENVI can't handle it.
So, first i performed band math and got one band result. Then used value range to build the mask for forest area. Then i classified mask to sieve and clump my mask. Then i made vector from mask class. And at the end if i want to make a mask based on ve...

ENVI Error/Chain Classification Question*Edited* 2803 2
Started by Deleted User
I am working to create a landcover classification map of an area that crosses several Landsat tiles and that I have limited reference data across the whole area (although I have quite a bit in one of the tiles). I was able to classify the tile with the most reference data successfully and would like to utilize overlap between the tiles to 'chain' the classification. I want to use the successful classification that is in the overlap area as the training data for the next tile. I assumed that I...

Getting projection information from HDF 1696 2
Started by Deleted User
I have a number of HDF files which contain bands that I'd like to extract and then stack into ENVI Standard format through IDL. I can read the files in to ENVI via ENVI_OPEN_DATA_FILE, but it doesn't load the associated projection information. It does, however, if I go through the GUI, so projection information is present in the HDFs. How can I read these data out of the HDF

Image Registration Help 1735 4
Started by Deleted User
Hi All,
I'm having some difficulty with the "Image Registration Workflow" dialogue. I have 2 high-res JPEGs, and technically the images are have a spatial reference, but it is the output of a simple IDL script that took into account Lat/Long and rotation. I am pretty satisfied with the overall location of the images, but they do not line-up well enough to Mosaic -which is the end goal. I have tried a few times now to walk through the image to image dialogue and I'm encountering the fo...

Maximum reflectance in spectra 1503 6
Started by Deleted User
Hi List,
How do I the following:
From a number of multispectral bands, I wanted to produce 2 images: 1) showing the maximum reflectance value across the bands and 2) the band number where the maximum came from. I know that using Band Math expression 'max(b1,..,bn)' applies only to one band and it gets local maxima in the band image tile and not across the spectra for each pixel.
I was expecting that Spectral Math 'max(s1)' and using the image as input variable would do the trick but ENVI retu...

MERIS FRS georeference issues 1588 2
Started by Deleted User
I'm working with MERIS full resolution data and thus far have had a lot of trouble getting ENVI to properly work with it. I had no issues working with reduced resolution data from the ESA, so I'm at a loss here.
I obtained the FR MERIS images from NASA Ocean Color in their original ESA file format, which only ENVI classic could load. ENVI 5 standard garbled the image and would only display it if I saved it in a ENVI file format in classic. I tried running the Georeference MERIS tool and whe...

Bitmap/Underlying Image in E3D 3D Viewer 1206 0
Started by Deleted User
Hello all,
I chose to place this post here as there don't appear to be any posts in the ENVI LiDAR section, in hopes that it may draw a little more attention. I am currently running E3D (now called ENVI LiDAR) to do some point cloud analysis. One thing that would be hugely beneficial would be to output the results into a 3D Model. Luckily, E3D has a built in 3D Viewer. I would like to output the results of some point cloud processing (Project Processing dialogue - mainly a DEM, tree vectors, and...

Color balancing in ENVI during mosaic 2613 2

Hi ENVI users,
I am having a problems with the color balancing while doing mosaic. I have 5 landsat images, one as Fixed and 4 as Adjust. I tried both option 1) statistics from overlapping region and 2) from the whole image.
Both provides me the same results with a mosaic with 5 different identical colors. I can't get similar color like the file which was selected as Fixed.
Envi Users, Do you have some ideas to solve this problem or do you recommend me using different software to make a co...
