Wildly different reflectance values for TM - with and without QUAC 1742 3
Started by Deleted User
Hello,
I wanted to share a screen snapshot of this. I have my original TM image as downloaded from glovis.usgs.gov as the bottom image. The values 22, 23, 55 are in DN 0-255.
The middle image is the TM image calculated to reflectance values without having been corrected using the QUAC tool. I just took the DN image and used the radiometric calibration. I understand these values are in proportion 0-1 reflected.
The top image is where I applied the QUAC tool to the image (using the settings for ...

Reading VIIRS in batch mode 1766 5
Started by Deleted User
Hello,
I would like to read VIIRS images (From the NOAA CLASS archive) using ENVI in batch mode. The idea is to load the image, perform bow-tie correction and then output a georeferenced TIFF file for later use. Effectively just the same procedure as File->Load with a VIIRS H5 file in the GUI program.
But I can't figure out how to do this in batch mode. IF I try:
COMPILE_OPT IDL2
e = ENVI(/HEADLESS)
VImg = e.OpenRaster(infile&93)
Then I get an error: " Dataset name must be provide...

QUAC - output values for TM? 1617 3
Started by Deleted User
Hello,
I used the QUAC module on a Landsat TM image and just was curious what the output values are. The original data was in DNs from 0-255 for each band. The output has a huge range, different for each band. The range is from 0-50,741 for band 3, for example.
Thank you!

Sentinel-2a jpeg2000 georeference tags 2214 0

I am working with the sample S2a MSI products available from the ESA Data Hub. They are in jpeg2000 format. When I open them using the xml file in ENVI 5.3, the georeference tags come through, so that I can tell where I am in the image:
Geo: 26°21'44.89"N,29°51'28.05"E

MGRS: 35RQK8519018986

When I open the image in ENVI Classic, the images have no map info. When I use any of my software which call ENVI modules...

Landsat Reflectance Values 1611 2
Started by Deleted User
Hi there,
I have performed Landsat radiometric calibration to reflectance using the radiometric calibration tool in ENVI. I'm just a bit confused about the output.
As far as I understand it, the values are TOA reflectance ranging from 0-1 (0 to 100). According to the literature I've read, sand should have a high reflectance in most bands and also ought to be some of the brightest pixels in my scene, since they appear almost white. Why is it that my beaches have values of around 0.25 to ...

atmospheric correction for airborne hyperspectral data 1584 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi,
I am a MS student in Geology at Bowling Green State University. I am trying to do atmospheric correction for airborne hyperspectral images using ENVI 5.2. I tried ENVI FLAASH and got a 'good looking' image. But when I checked the spectral profile, the data values are not that good. Is it possible to use flaash to process my data I tried QUick correction too. It looks lot more better than flaash and the spectral profile match with my in-situ measurements. Is this QUick correction reliable...

band math conditional 1861 1
Started by Deleted User
I need to use the conditional statements in band math and I don&180;t know how. I have a follow-on question that I hope someone can address. My images have values from 0 to 1. I need to apply a lineal equation (B1 * 1.515 - 0.33) if the value is greater than 0.2179 and less than 0.8449. If the value is less than 0.2179, it has to take the value 0, and if the value is greater than 0.8449, it has to take the value 0.95. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot. Pablo

PROBLEM Masking clouds using ROI 1324 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi,
This is getting frustrating. I have a few cloud cover on my Landsat 8 image that I want to get rid of. So from the ROI Toolbox, I created a cloud ROI then saved it. Next I wanted to mask the clouds out of the image, so I went to Toolbox -> Raster Management -> Masking -> Build Mask.
In the "build mask input file" window, I chose the image with clouds as input file, then clicked OK.
In the "Mask definition" window, I clicked "options" and imported the cloud ...

Dear Sir/Ma,
I am trying to estimate land use changes in ENVI using landsat satellite images. I have done the classification and cleanup but I am stuck with extracting my landcover data for my watersheds. As you know that satellite image scene are huge and I based my classification on the entire image scenes. However, I have shapefile of my watersheds that I want to extract from the images for post processing but this last part seems not working for me. Please how can I extract my watershed...

Landsat 8 Calibration 1533 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi. I am wondering if anyone can help. I have ENVI 5.1 and am using Landsat 8 data. The radiometric tool will only allow me to change the dn values to radiance, there is no option for reflectance. Also, after checking the metadata it appears that all the reflectance data are the same and therefore are not functional in band math. Is there a way for this to be solved Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Calculating statistics based on multiple ROI&39;s 1636 4
Started by Deleted User
I have about 50 roi's that are stored within just one .roi file, and I would like to gather statistics within each one of the roi's but I can't figure out how to do this in ENVI (I am using 5.1). When I use basic tools>compute statistics I can subset stats with an roi, but when I highlight all 50 of mine it computes stats across all 50 roi's like they are one, when really I want stats for all 50 of them individually. I could select all 50 individually but I want to avoid doing this (maybe I nee...

I am using ENVI 5.1 on Windows 7, 64 bit. The FLAASH atmospheric correction module on my computer is generating an error that causes IDL to freeze and crash. I want to correct 2014 RapidEye data purchased from their vendor. When I go to apply FLAASH corrections, the Spectral Library Viewer comes up, loading rapideye.sli. This freezes and causes the crash. The error is Intel(R) Visual Fortran run-time error. "forrtl: severe (9): permission to access file denied, until 99, file 'C:\Users\.......

image skewness 1385 2
Started by Deleted User
It's not clear to my why/when an image will display perfectly horizontal/vertical in the window and when it will be angled/skewed. I had thought this was related to the coordinate reference system but I'm not sure anymore. I had gone through the image georeferencing and registration tutorial and they suggested it was related to orbit direction.
In general, I would like to preserve the original display style (i.e no skewing) when opening the image and after performing image processing. Is ther...
