Naming bordering regions 998 2
Started by Deleted User
Hi,
I am a basic user of ENVI so apologies for the potentially basic question.
I have a shape file that denotes regions (local governments), each of which as an associated name. I want to specify, for each region, the list of those regions bordering it. Is this possible in ENVI
With best wishes,
Dan

Problem with Mapping Methods: Endmember Collection 1202 2
Started by Deleted User
I have been attempting to apply the spectra collected via ROIs in one image to another image with MLC classification. The procedure that was recommended on this forum was to calculate stats with covariance from the ROI tool, save the results to an ENVI stats file, and then use the Spectral->Mapping Methods->Endmember Collection tool to import the saved spectra and apply them to a new file. This has worked fine for a Landsat TM image, however when I create a file which is the 6 TM bands stacked w...

Rescaling Linear Spectral Unmixing results 1011 3
Started by Deleted User
Hi all,
I am working with Envi Linear Spectral Unmixing tool. I obtain good results (very low RMS Error values) so the percent covers sums to a value close to 1, but the Individual percent covers are not between 0 and 1.
I was thinking about rescaling the individual percent covers, in this way the min_value would became 0 and the max_value would became 1. Is it a correct approach or i should consider all the negatives values like a zero , i.e. endmember not present in the pixel...

SVM on Polarimetric Data 1175 1
Started by Deleted User
I'm working on Polarimetric RADARSAT-2 data and planning to classify them using SVM method. I have noticed that ENVI will take so much time to process my data even more than 3 days, to get the classification result. My area is 5000*5000 pixel with a spatial resolution of 8meter. I have 15 class and I have 3-4 region for each class in my training data.
I was wondering if there is a solution for this problem to run SVM-ENVI faster on this data set.

ENVIIDL on Linux 2225 1
Started by Deleted User
Hello everyone,
I have written a code in IDL which interacts with ENVI. The code works
fine on a Windows system but I need to run it on an Linux system.
Is there a possibility on Linux to start ENVIIDL (graphical -> idlde) together like in the Windows system with the "envi_idl.exe" file Until now, with the Linux system, I can only start ENVI and IDL seperately which means that they can't interact together.
Thanks for your help,
wies_mi

ENVI shutting down when I use Quickmap 1227 2
Started by Deleted User
Hi. I have tried to create a number of image maps today but once loaded if I try to add a colour ramp or even try to enlarge the scroll image, ENVI shuts down with this message - TEMPORARY Variable is undefined: DATA. Does anyone know what this means and how I can solve this
Thanks

jp2 image not displaying properly 1420 2
Started by Deleted User
Hello,
I have some jp2 images, but when I bring them into ENVI (either directly via File/Open or Open External File/Generic Formats/JPG2000 or JPG), bands 2 and 3 are not displaying correctly. However, when I open the files in ArcGIS, they look ok (see screenshot http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42285242/jp2_screenshot.jpg).
To make things yet a bit more complex, once I export a file that displays ok in ArcMap to a tiff file, it displays just fine in ENVI too. Even exporting that tiff file ...

AVHRR 7 days composite 1136 3
Started by Deleted User
Dear All,
I aim to process time-series for AVHRR imagery. Currently, I have 52 images of AVHRR 7 days composite of year 1989. The area is in USA.
And I found out that I have some problems about input AVHRR composite image to ENVI. I try both way "open image file" and "open external file" but it doesn't work.
Is there anyone know how to input AVHRR composite image to ENVI. Please let me know how to.
Many thanks in advance.
Paula.

Overlaying images to create cloud free combined image 1045 1
Started by Deleted User
I have 2 Landsat images of the same area taken within 2 weeks of each other. Clouds appear in different places for both so I would like to over lay the cloud free area of image 1 onto image 2 and vice-versa, so the overlayed image is cloud free. Does anyone know how to do this
Many thanks.

My Hyperion image metadata shows:

How can I derive Zenith and Azimuth angles using this information

ENVI Projection Interrupted Goode 1633 6
Started by Deleted User
ENVI 4.5 supported Interrupted Goode projection as no. 24 but this projection is missing in ENVI 4.8 The file created with interrupted Goode projection in ENVI 4.5 when opened in ENVI 4.8 show it as Arbitrary projection. I tried to add the projection in map_proj.txt file of 4.8 by copying the parameters from 4.5 but to no avail. Can anybody help

Image contrast from area under curve or peak positions 998 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi all,
I would like to generate image contrast relative to particular spectral bands, band intensities, and/or areas under the curve of a couple bands. My dataset is from Raman data (e.g. one spectrum/pixel) and I am trying to figure out if ENVI has anything built in to do this automatically and, if it doesn't, is there any IDL code out there to do this sort of thing
Thanks in advance,
Chris

setting up 'data_ignore_value' in envi header in IDL code 1250 3
Started by Deleted User
Hello,
I have some code that masks user selected input files by a user selected mask and now I want to apply a 'data ignore value' of 0 to the output files. I'm trying this with the 'envi_setup_head' routine. I get an ENVI header file in any case without the part where I set up the header, but I cannot get the 'data ignore value' set to 0, as I want. If anyone can figure out the solution to modify the code below, it'd be wonderful.
Thanks,
Mike

how to include border pixels in ROI?? 1438 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi all,
I have been trying to mask an image by using an ROI based on an EVF. I referenced this posting: http://www.idl-envi.com/language/en-US/UserCommunity/UserForums/forumid/29/postid/11980/scope/posts.aspx It worked correctly but some information was missing. I read this posting: http://www.exelisvis.com/language/en-US/UserCommunity/UserForums/forumid/29/postid/7233/scope/posts.aspx that ENVI includes pixels in the mask if it the scan lines are considered to pass through the center of...

batch shapefile to evf 1227 1
Started by Deleted User
Hi forum,
Does anybody know if there exists any routines to convert shapefiles into evf files in batch mode
or if there aren't any, does anyone know a work around for this I have been searching the web for this but seems like there are no possibilities. Is this true Because there is envi_evf_to_shapefile but I cant seem to find the other way around.
Thank you very much in advance.

Gzip compression for Envi files 1484 2
Started by Deleted User
Dear all,
I have been looking for a possibility to compress some pretty large files using IDL code with envi functionality.
The original images are around 24GB in size, long integer arrays, dimensions ~ 22000x28000x9.
I came across the option of using gzip compression for envi files using the envi_write_envi_file function.
This first gave me very promising results when I wrote not so large files, e.g. 8000x9000x1 byte images that were originally ~60MB had a compressed size of 800...
